Chart Trader (trading from chart

This article provides a visual guide and description of trading directly from the chart using the Chart Trader module.

Executing trades from the chart (in auto-order determination mode)

When the trading mode is activated, hover the cursor over the chart area to see tooltips on the left side at the horizontal cursor level, indicating which order will be executed upon clicking the left or right mouse button:

Examples of positions and order placement:

Placing a Buy LMT.

If the mouse cursor is positioned below the BestBid, a left-click will place a Buy LMT.

Dragging the Buy LMT order to the BestAsk price or higher activates the exchange's order matching mechanism, leading to the automatic execution of this limit buy order at the BestAsk price!

Placing a Sell LMT.

If the mouse cursor is above the BestAsk, a left-click will place a Sell LMT.

Dragging the Sell LMT order to the BestBid price or lower initiates the exchange's order matching mechanism, resulting in the automatic execution of this limit sell order at the BestBid price or lower!

Placing a Buy STP. 

If the mouse cursor is above the BestAsk, a right-click will place a Buy STP.

Placing a Sell STP.

If the mouse cursor is below the BestBid, a right-click will place a Sell STP.

You can also set pending orders (Limit/Stop) via the chart context menu by right-clicking on the desired price and selecting the appropriate command. However, ensure that the "Trading from chart" toggle switch is turned off.

Adjusting Orders

You can move an active order to a new price by clicking and holding the left mouse button on the order label, then dragging it to the desired price.

Canceling Orders

To cancel an order, you can use:

• the X button on the order label.

• Cancel Bids to cancel all buy orders (Buy LMT and Buy STP) on the Chart Trader panel to the right.

• Cancel Asks to cancel all sell orders (Sell LMT and Sell STP) on the Chart Trader panel to the right.

• Cancel All to cancel all pending orders for this instrument and account.

• the CLOSE button, but be aware that if there is an open position, it will also be closed.

Closing Open Positions

To close executed orders, you can use:

• the X button on the order label.

• the CLOSE button/Close the current position and remove all pending orders on the Chart Trader panel to the right.

• place an opposite order using the trading buttons or the trading from chart feature.

• hotkeys.

Route: With this option, you can select the router (ECN) through which your order will be sent.

Please note: This option is only available for trading stocks on the American stock market.
