Following Manager

Modified on Wed, 16 Oct at 5:55 PM

The Following Manager module is used to copy orders or positions from the Provider account to Follower accounts. In other words, you select the account from which orders or positions will be copied and choose the accounts to which actions will be copied. All accounts must be connected within the ATAS platform.

You can access the module in the main window of the platform:

To get started, you need to add a copy group in a convenient way:

And after the group is added, you need to start copying:

The window for adding a copy group consists of three sections:

1.Provider - this is where you select the account from which orders or positions will be copied.

2.Followers - this is where you select the accounts to which orders or positions will be copied.

3.Settings - Here, you select the copying mode, as well as enable Notifications and Manual Confirmation.

There are two copying modes:

  • Positions - In this mode, only positions will be copied. For example, if you place a limit order, it won't appear on the follower accounts. However, if the limit order is executed and opens a position, the same positions will be opened on the follower accounts (using market orders).

  • Orders - In this mode, only orders and actions related to them will be copied. For instance, if you place a limit order on the Provider account and then adjust its price, the Follower accounts will replicate these actions. However, if you perform separate actions on the Follower account, the copy trading will not consider these changes and will continue copying all actions from the Provider.

Notifications - This setting enables or disables pop-up notifications about copied positions/orders.

Manual Confirmation - This setting enables or disables manual confirmation of copying positions or orders in the respective tab:

After the copy group has been created, you can start or stop copying at any time by clicking on the corresponding button:

Several examples of the Following Manager behavior in positions and orders modes:

1. Positions mode. The provider places a pending order, and it is not copied to the follower - this is the correct behavior.

2. Positions mode. The provider places a pending order - it is not copied to the follower. Later, when the provider's order is executed, positions synchronize, and the position opens on the follower account as well. That is correct. In this case, there might be different entry prices since a market buy entails the risk of slippage, leading to a different entry price. Also, if in positions mode the system attempts to copy a position and receives an error from the connector when trying to open it - the positions will not be synchronized.

3. Orders mode. The provider has a position of 1, while the follower has 0. Upon activating this mode, positions will not synchronize because position size is not considered, and only orders are copied.

4. Orders mode. The provider places an order close to the market price. It is copied to the follower account, but the provider adjusts the order price (in this case, the order is deleted and a new one is placed). In this case, while the provider is adjusting the order, the previous follower's order can be executed. As a result, the provider's order may not be executed, while the follower's order may be. This is normal behavior of the orders mode.
